About Dr Demento
Barret Eugene Hansen, known professionally as Dr. Demento, is an American radio broadcaster and record collector specializing in novelty and comedy music. His weekly radio program, The Dr. Demento Show, ran from 1970 to 2025, introducing audiences to offbeat musical gems and launching the career of "Weird Al" Yankovic. He popularized cult classics including "Fish Heads" and "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," earning induction into both the National Radio Hall of Fame and Comedy Music Hall of Fame.
