About Lesley Gore
Lesley Gore was an American singer-songwriter who achieved stardom at age sixteen with her 1963 number-one hit "It's My Party." She followed with the feminist anthem "You Don't Own Me," which reached number two in 1964. Gore co-wrote the Academy Award-nominated song "Out Here On My Own" for the 1980 film Fame with her brother Michael Gore. She later hosted the PBS series "In the Life," an LGBT-oriented public television program.
