About William Sanderson
William Sanderson is a Memphis-born character actor whose career spans television and film. He gained recognition as Larry, one-third of the backwoods trio on the sitcom Newhart, and as the genetic designer J.F. Sebastian in Blade Runner. His later work includes memorable turns as the obsequious E.B. Farnum on HBO's Deadwood and Sheriff Bud Dearborne on True Blood.
Since this interview
Sanderson reprised his role as E.B. Farnum in Deadwood: The Movie in 2019, the same year he published his autobiography Yes, I'm That Guy: The Rough-and-Tumble Life of a Character Actor and launched a six-episode podcast. He announced his retirement from acting on Facebook in May 2020.
