About Sherman Hemsley
Sherman Hemsley was an American actor and comedian who became a television icon playing George Jefferson, first on All in the Family (1973–1975) and then on the spinoff The Jeffersons (1975–1985). He earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for the role and won an NAACP Image Award in 1982. He later starred as Deacon Ernest Frye on Amen (1986–1991) and voiced Bradley P. Richfield on Dinosaurs (1991–1994).
