About Dixie Carter

Dixie Carter was an American actress best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker on the CBS sitcom Designing Women, which ran from 1986 to 1993. She later starred as attorney Randi King on the drama series Family Law from 1999 to 2002. Carter also appeared as Gloria Hodge on Desperate Housewives and earned a 2007 Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. In addition to her television work, she was an accomplished cabaret singer and published a memoir in 1996.
