About Annabelle Gurwitch
Annabelle Gurwitch is an actress, comedian, and author known for her work on TBS's Dinner and a Movie (1996–2002) and as a correspondent on Not Necessarily the News (1985–1990). She co-hosted Sci-Fi Channel's The Dream Team with Annabelle and Michael and created the documentary Fired! (2007). Her essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. Her book I See You Made an Effort (2014) became a New York Times bestseller and Thurber Prize finalist.
Since this interview
Gurwitch published three books after the interview: Wherever You Go, There They Are (2017), You're Leaving When? (2021), and The End of My Life is Killing Me (2026), which details her stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. She appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher in 2026.
