About Gabe Kaplan
Gabriel Kaplan is a Brooklyn-born comedian and actor who rose to fame through stand-up comedy appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in the early 1970s. He starred as Gabe Kotter in the hit ABC sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter from 1975 to 1979, playing a teacher returning to his alma mater. Kaplan later pursued professional poker, winning the Amarillo Slim Super Bowl of Poker main event in 1980 and providing commentary for High Stakes Poker on television.
