About Guy Torry

Guy Torry is a St. Louis-born comedian and actor who gained prominence in the late 1990s. He appeared in films including American History X and Life alongside Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. Torry created and hosted Phat Tuesdays, a groundbreaking comedy showcase at The Comedy Store in Hollywood that ran from 1995 to 2005, bringing talent from underserved neighborhoods to industry executives. He also starred in television series including Good News and The Strip.

In 2022, Torry executive produced Phat Tuesdays: The Era of Hip Hop Comedy, a docu-series on Amazon Prime directed by Reginald Hudlin and co-executive produced by Kelsey Grammer. The New York Times named it Best Documentary of 2022. He continued acting with appearances in Hope Street Holiday and Mind Your Business, and co-hosted the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show.
